The prophet Isaiah, in chapter 58, verses 13 and 14 of his book, gives us a beautiful promise: "If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on My holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour Him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord."

So when we think about keeping the Sabbath we must think of the things God told us right in the beginning. We must not do unnecessary work. We must not make others work. We must not seek our own amusement. We must worship and read God's Word. We must remember all He has done. So what does that mean we can do? We can go to Sabbath school and church. We can go out for walks where we can see the beautiful things God has made, and think about them-how wonderfully God has made them, what sin has done to spoil them and how much more wonderful our new home on the earth made new will be .

We can help others, as Jesus did. When He saw a sick person on Sabbath He did not say, "Oh, it's Sabbath; I will just have to let that man's illness go on." He spoke and made the man well. So if we can do a little good for a sick person, let's do it. Perhaps we can visit the sick, take them books or papers or flowers or fruit, or write to them; or we can go to see old people who cannot get out and about as we can.

We can think of God's Word. There are many ways of doing so. This book is to help you do just that.

If we put Jesus first on the Sabbath and try to give pleasure to Him and to His children, then we shall be surprised to find that we have had such a happy day, and those words of Isaiah will come true.
